Council leader confirms continuing commitment to regeneration of the City Centre

City council leader Roger Blackmore attended the Leicester Regeneration Company's Board meeting on Monday 25th October to hear about the progress being made.

This included work to select a developer for the New Business Quarter Phase 1: the redevelopment of Charles St Police Station for 100,000 sq ft of offices. The Board were also briefed on the forthcoming Development Frameworks for a New Community in St George's and for Leicester's Waterside regeneration.

"Our administration is firmly committed to genuine regeneration within the city," said Cllr Blackmore. "The types of scheme in the Master Plan are imaginative and varied, ranging from the Science & Technology Park and the Cultural Quarter to new schemes of affordable housing.

"The Master Plan is at the core of the Council's aspirations for regenerating central Leicester, and the Council is delighted about the exciting prospects that are emerging from its LRC partnership and Investment."

LRC Vice-chairman John Plumridge commented: "The Council is a key partner in all we are trying to do, and it was good to have their continuing support reaffirmed so strongly by Cllr Blackmore."
